What practitioners report. The paper surveys the calculators and vendors its case-study companies actually use: vendor calculators \"state that the typical payback period for any robotic system, new or used, is between 6 and 18 months\" (span URL:e0a8defe646c2b8032ca75b6, fulltext, 8221-8280), while the robot vendors the authors interviewed (FANUC, AMTECH) say they don't compute ROI for customers and, \"from experience, they estimate the payback period to be around 3 years\" (span 9776-9824). So the field's own reported range is roughly 6-18 months at the optimistic, vendor-calculator end and ~3 years at the vendor-experience end.\n\n2. A measured case study, not marketing.
